The Languedoc-Roussillon with 300.000 hectares, is the largest wine region of France but also one of the first regions where the vine was planted, under the Roman Empire. It extends over 3 departments: Aude, Gard and Herault and has recently been expanding on the Pyrénées-Orientales and Roussillon. With an annual production of 700 000 hl and nearly 100 million bottles sold worldwide, the appellation desires to become the first AOC of the largest winegrowing in the world.
Several grape varieties are used to produce a wine of great complexity. For reds and rosés, the grapes generally used are Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache Noir, Carignan Noir and finally Cinsault. Then for the whites, are privileged white grenache, Bourboulenc, Roussanne, Marsanne, Clairette white, Piquepoul white, Tourbat, Carignan white, Rolle, Terret white, Ugni white Viognier and finally Maccabeu. The AOC Languedoc red with fine and elegant tannins has notes of ripe fruit, spices and scrubland that offers an aromatic richness and a typical languedocienne roundness.
In 12 bottles, we recommend Mas de Daumas Gassac, a powerful, gourmet and complex wine with notes of candied red fruits and roasted cocoa for a full-bodied and gourmet experience on the palate. We also appreciate the red Aries bottle from Château Puech-Haut, an intense, generous and complex red wine with an intense garnet color and violet hints that reveals aromas of red fruits, spices (pepper, liquorice) and a touch of despised woodland for a well-balanced, powerful and elegant ensemble. It can be appreciated now as in a few years. Then, the AOC Languedoc rosé has aromas of fresh fruit and a robe ranging from a deep pink to light. Among the rosé wines of the appellation.
12bouteilles recommends Prestige rosé from Château Puech-Haut, a wine of pleasure, with a full dress and a complex nose of citrus fruits and exotic white fruits. A rosé wine greedy and refreshing in the mouth. Finally, we find in AOC Languedoc Blanc a good balance, freshness and roundness languedocienne. The white wines of Languedoc offer aromas of white peach and almond blossoms as well as fruits such as citrus fruit and pear. To discover the white wines of Languedoc, we recommend the White Aries bottle from Château Puech-Haut, a balanced wine with fresh and round aromas thanks to notes of citrus and acacia honey. The golden yellow color is brilliant and the nose is warm and radiant thanks to the amazing mixture of fruits (exotic and apricot) and white chocolate with notes of peach.
