In the world of wine since 1926, Louis and Lucien Jolivet run a wine trading company named Jolivet et fils. Winemakers at Château de Tracy, they select, buy wholesale, proceed to bottling and market the wines in the region of Sancerre.
In the Jolivet family, the passion for wine is transmitted from generation to generation, so that Lucien’s son, Jacques Jolivet, walks in the footsteps of his father before encouraging his son Pascal to become an agent of the famous house Pommery, position he still holds today.
In 1983, Jacques Jolivet acquired a small trading company called The Great Wines of the Loire Valley“ and put his son Pascal, then 25 years old, to the management. In 1987, Pascal Jolivet then breeder trader created the brand “Pascal Jolivet“ after the advice of his client and friend, the three-star chef Gerard Boyer. Still lacking vineyards in 1990, Pascal decided to hire Jean Luc Soty, a young oenologist specializing in natural winemaking with 100% indigenous yeasts. In 1993, Jacques Jolivet proposed to his son Pascal to buy from their cousins a magnificent 6-hectare vineyard on the most beautiful terroirs of Bué-en-Sancerre: Le Chêne Marchand, Grand Chemarin and the Prés plant. Domaine Pascal Jolivet was born. The first vines of Pouilly Fumé were bought in 1995, 6.5 hectares in Tracy sur Loire, where are cultivated the vines of one of its Pouilly-Fumé signature wines Pascal Jolivet. The constant attention to detail will enable Jolivet wines to develop their uniqueness over the years. In the years 1995 and 1996, two years in a row, the iconic Wine Spectator magazine awards the Sancerre Blanc Pascal Jolivet ““ in the top 100 best wines of the year. The house then produces wines in two appellations: Pouilly Fumé and Sancerre. With an area of 95 hectares between Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé, 50 hectares in Touraine for attitude, the vineyard is a reference in the Loire Valley, recognized by the greatest critics for its typical wines. The owner’s motto is to let nature go as far as possible to obtain a true expression of the terroir in our wines. Pinot Noir is the main grape for red wines and Sauvignon Blanc for whites.
