Domaine des Creisses: A Distinctive Voice of Languedoc Terroir
A family legacy shaped by nature and precision
Nestled in the heart of southern France, Domaine des Creisses is a family-run estate that embodies the harmony between heritage, passion, and innovation. Since its foundation in 1904, the estate has cultivated a deep connection to its land. In 1990, Philippe Chesnelong took the reins, breathing new life into the domaine while staying true to its values: respect for the land, winemaking precision, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Spanning 13 hectares, the vineyard boasts a rare geological composition — quartz pebbles, schist, limestone, and basalt rock — all contributing to the unique identity of its wines. Coupled with a Mediterranean climate that favors varietals like Syrah, Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Mourvèdre, the terroir offers ideal conditions for creating structured, expressive, and age-worthy wines. The estate’s name, “Creisses”, pays homage to the very stones that define its soul.
The estate is best known for its two flagship cuvées: Les Creisses, a vibrant and well-balanced wine, and Les Brunes, a deeper, more complex expression that captures the full potential of its terroir.
Artisan winemaking and acclaimed cuvées
Domaine des Creisses practices meticulous, hands-on viticulture. Grapes are harvested by hand to preserve quality, then carefully sorted before vinification. Les Creisses is vinified in tanks, preserving freshness and fruit purity, while Les Brunes undergoes barrel ageing, gaining complexity and elegance over time.
Les Creisses charms with notes of dark berries and spice, featuring bright acidity and silky tannins — ideal for lamb, grilled meats, or aged cheeses. Les Brunes reveals deeper flavors of tobacco, leather, and ripe black fruits, making it a perfect match for game, rib-eye steak, or bold cheeses like Roquefort or aged Comté.
Praised by wine critics and connoisseurs alike, these wines have earned their place among Languedoc’s finest. Their authenticity, consistency, and age-worthiness reflect a deeply rooted commitment to quality.
