Since ancient times, Tuscany has been a land of wine-making tradition. Its hills and the Mediterranean climate are ideal ingredients for the production of quality wines. Tuscany is the most important producer of Italian appellations wines, it could not be compared elsewhere in Bordeaux in France. Its red wines are world-renowned such as Bolgheri, Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti Classico or Super Tuscans. The vineyards cover 85 000 ha and the annual production is 2.6 million hectoliters. The local grape of the classic red wines is the Sangiovese, ranked among the most noble of Italy and the world. In the great vintages, this grape brings an intense color, presents floral and fruity aromas, with a good tannic structure, they are fleshy and long in the mouth. Some may require years of aging to reach their peak. The Brunello di Montalcino is the most prestigious Tuscan appellation, attached to a fortress town south of Siena where red wines are legendary potency and longevity, made only from the fabulous Sangiovese grape variety. The 2011 vintage of Il Marroneto was also named “mythical vintage“ by critic R.Parker. In the 1970s, the production of high-end wines became an essential factor in the overall improvement of the Tuscan red wines. These cult wines, which are known as “super Tuscans“, continue to flourish. The classic varietals are blends of Sangiovese and Cabernet de Tignanello, however we find more and more reds from Syrah, Pinot Noir and Merlot. The “Super Tuscans“ are now among the most esteemed red wines of Italy such as those of the house Duemani. In 12Bouteilles, we invite you to discover all the finesse and balance of a great Tuscan by tasting Cifra 2013, a fine and balanced red wine and Duemani 2011, a wine described as “absolutely fabulous“ by R.Parker.
