Château L’Evangile, a Pomerol Icon of Elegance and Depth
Prestigious heritage and outstanding terroir
Château L’Evangile stands as one of the finest names in the Pomerol appellation. Located on the famed plateau, its 16-hectare vineyard benefits from a unique mix of gravel, deep clay, and iron-rich subsoil. This exceptional terroir, planted predominantly with Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%), provides the foundation for wines that are powerful, refined, and long-lasting.
Established in the 18th century and acquired in 1990 by the Rothschild family, the estate has undergone thoughtful modernization while preserving its historical character. Grapes are harvested by hand and vinified using both concrete and stainless steel vats. The wines are then aged for 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels, 70% of which are new. This balance of tradition and innovation yields wines of remarkable aromatic complexity, silky texture, and great aging potential.
Exceptional wines and iconic vintages
The estate’s Grand Vin is a showcase of elegance and intensity. On the nose, it unveils notes of black fruits, truffle, dark chocolate, and subtle spices. The palate is full-bodied and structured with fine, integrated tannins and a persistent finish. This is a wine built for aging, developing even greater harmony and complexity over time.
The Blason de L’Evangile, the second wine, offers a more approachable profile with its vibrant fruit, smooth texture, and earlier drinkability. Notable vintages such as 2005, 2010, and 2015 are widely recognized for their exceptional balance, depth, and expression of the estate’s unique character.
Available on 12bouteilles.com, Château L’Evangile pairs perfectly with red meats, rich sauces, or truffle-based dishes. It is a must-have for any serious Bordeaux wine enthusiast seeking elegance, power, and timeless style.
