In this 2021 vintage, "Les Griottiers" of Mas de la Seranne is marked by its softness of tannins and intense fruit. This red wine from organic farming develops notes of ripe fruit, cherry and will seduce you with its silky and fruity side. The view is adorned with a superb purple red color with purple reflections. The nose reveals magnificent notes of strawberry and cherry jam. The palate is focused on finesse and freshness, then the fruit and spices arrive to give greediness. The mid-palate is fleshy with a nice roundness to which is added a liquorice side on this long finish.
Since their first harvest, the cuvée has always been characterized by aromas of Morello cherries in brandy. It was naturally named "Les Griottiers" after the wild cherry trees that grow near their Grenache vineyard.
Mas de la Séranne was founded in 1998 by Jean-Pierre Venture, where he started by buying his first five hectares of vines on the very prestigious terroirs of Aniane, now the estate has 17 hectares. The vines are planted with Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Carignan but also Cinsault which brings an extra complexity when blended with the classic Languedoc grapes.
The estate is located in the Terrasses du Larzac appellation. This appellation is known for its aromatic complexity and the freshness of the wines due to the day/night temperature variations (which can reach more than 20°C in summer). The diversity of the types of soils confers to the domain a beautiful typicity of the wines combining aromas of ripe fruits, spices, and a beautiful structure supported by very fine tannins.
This vineyard, very sensitive to biodynamic, has decided to be inspired by it to complete their treatments by products such as infusions of plants and to carry out according to the lunar calendar of the operations like the pollarding, the ploughing, the grafting, the plantations, the bottlings...
The advice 12bouteilles: This wine will go perfectly with all meats, sweet and salty dishes as well as tagines. For a better tasting, we advise you to decant it then to serve it at a temperature between 16-17°C.
