Château Coutet

Château Coutet is one of the oldest properties of the Sauternes, 1st Classified Growth in 1855. Its construction dates from the end of the 13th century. In 1977 Marcel Baly bought the property and invested in major renovations. To date, two of his sons manage the 38.5 hectare estate and continue the work of rehabilitating the vines, renovating the cellars and the vats. Located on a calcareous soil and not far from the Ciron, favors fall fogs favorable to the proliferation of the fungus Botrytis cinerea. The vineyard is composed of 75% Sémillon, 23% Sauvignon and 2% Muscadelle for a 35 year old vine. The wines have notes of white flowers, citrus fruits, honey and vanilla. As you get older, deeper notes, in which spices combine with exotic nectars and candied fruit.
