A 70-hectare vineyard, Château Poujeaux is located in the Médoc, between Margaux and Saint-Julien, in the Moulis appellation. A Crus Bourgeois Exceptionnel, it is now elaborated by Matthieu Cuvelier and his teams to produce wines distinguished by their roundness, generosity, balance and power.

history
Known since the Middle Ages, Terre de Poujeaux was a Seigneurie dependent on Latour Saint-Mambert, the future Château Latour... During the 19th century, the estate produced its first wines and became truly independent.
Prosperity, inheritance and fragmentation punctuated the first half of the 20th century, until the Theil family had the good idea to take over the estate. Jean Theil worked to reunite the estate and enhance its reputation. Château Poujeaux became a favorite with connoisseurs. His descendants inherit his attachment to the estate and perpetuate the Poujeaux spirit.
In 2008, Philippe Cuvelier and his son Matthieu (already the proud owners of Château Clos Fourtet, 1er Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Emilion) took over the destiny of this lovely Moulis Médoc cru. In 2013, they acquired Château Les Grandes Murailles and Côte de Baleau in Saint Emilion. While maintaining continuity, they are breathing new energy and ambition into the estate. They surround themselves with the best people and invest efficiently in production equipment to raise Poujeaux to the top.

Château Poujeaux is a 100-hectare estate, 70 of which are dedicated to single vineyard production. It is located in the Médoc, between Margaux and Saint-Julien in the Moulis appellation. Benefiting from a typically Médoc terroir, it is composed of a croup of Günzian gravel. The vineyard is planted with four traditional Médoc grape varieties: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc. The vines are planted in the old-fashioned way, 10,000 vines/ha with an average age of 35 years. This alliance between grape variety and soil produces deep, dense and elegant wines.

In the vineyard, the plots are carefully tended throughout the year. The entire vineyard is managed using integrated farming methods, with tillage and green harvesting (leaf removal, debudding, green harvesting). During the harvest, the grapes are selected and picked by hand according to their ripeness and with respect for the fruit, before being transported to the winery. The harvest is then separated into small tanks adapted to the age of the vines, the plot selection and the grape varieties. This allows us to create batches with complementary qualities. After spending a month in vats for alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months. re
Château Cuvées
The Grand Vin, Château Poujeaux, combines elegance, depth, and balance. With a ruby-red color, the nose reveals great freshness. On the palate, the wine displays power with silky tannins, leading to a persistent finish.
La Salle de Château Poujeaux is the estate’s second wine. It stands out with a bold blend of fresh fruits and supple tannins, making it appealing from a young age.
The estate’s final cuvée, Haut de Poujeaux, comes from 3.5 hectares of vines in the Haut-Médoc appellation, representing only a small portion of the production. This wine reflects the authenticity of the terroir and the family spirit.
