THE HISTORY OF château La Négly
Given the topography of the Aude, the castle has known its golden age, as evidenced by the names of Lancely in 1973, La Nerly in 1781 and La Négly in 1807. The lands of the castle have also seen the presence of Saint-Laurent de La Mer in 1484 but also of the Chapel Saint-Laurent 1781. The Count of Rosset had made it his summer residence, which made it an important residence. The flocks of sheep used to graze in the salt meadows of the Chapelle Saint-Laurent, located at the Château de La Négly, before heading to Pérignan, now known as Fleury d'Aude.
Jean Paux-Rosset, the owner of Château la Négly, was destined for a high-level equestrian career. Coming from a family of winegrowers, life events forced Jean to take charge of the family estate starting in 1992.
A charismatic and visionary man, Jean was one of the first to realize the value of the terroir he owned. Passionate about his profession, he reviewed the way he cultivated the vines by controlling yields and adjusting pruning. His dedication and tenacity led Jean to position Château de La Négly on the international scene.
For 30 years now, Claude Paux-Rosset, Jean's wife, has been an essential figure at La Négly playing a crucial role in the development of the estate. It is with professionalism and kindness that she now takes care of the administrative part of the château.
After having worked in the United States, it is quite natural that their daughter Marion joined the estate in order to concentrate on the development of the export market, of which she has been very successful in marketing the wines all over the world. She has also contributed to the development of wine tourism on the estate while providing valuable assistance in the winemaking process.
Bastien Paux-Rosset has a real passion for the culture of the vineyard where he blossoms in the management of the estate. He also plays a major role in the marketing of the wines on the French market, thus contributing to the growth and development of the estate.

Château La Négly, THE propERTY
The terroirs of Château La Négly and Boède benefit from an ideal exposure in the heart of the La Clape massif and are characterized by a great diversity of soils. The soil of Boède is composed of sand, silt and sandstone, while that of La Négly is rich in clay and limestone. This diversity through the soils allows bringing a large aromatic palette in the produced wines.
Under the direction of the Paux-Rosset family, the estate has opted for a strategy geared towards quality and aims to put forward the château's wines as references in the Languedoc region. They have also modified their cultivation methods to preserve the environment, and have decided to re-grow a majority of their vines.
The geographical location of La Négly right next to the sea pushes the estate to implement a new quality wine tourism policy, focusing on the creation of a new cellar to offer a professional and friendly welcome. Tourists will also have the opportunity to visit the entire estate as well as to go on wine tours during the season to better understand the universe surrounding the château.
Bastien and Marion, the couple's children, have presented their passion for wine tourism by proposing a new high-end service in the form of a charming house located on the hillside, called Coste Care. This new offer will allow customers to live a totally immersive experience in the heart of the estate.
THE KNOW-HOW OF château la négly
The cultivation of the vineyard follows the principles of sustainable agriculture and is certified under the high environmental value level 3 label. The soils are maintained regularly to improve aeration and promote the growth of microbial life.
During the harvest, the grapes are selected at their optimal maturity and then immediately transferred to the cellar to avoid any risk of oxidation. After that, Bastien takes care of the sorting by eliminating the unripe, botrytized or overripe grapes to keep only perfectly healthy grapes.
In the production process, the Chateau sees the reasoned culture as a major objective nothing can be left to chance. This means controlling all aspects involving practices such as de-budding, leaf removal, manual harvesting, double sorting on the table, as well as low and regulated yields.
The pruning method used for the vines is mainly short and traditional, using the 90% trellised goblet technique. This approach favours the optimal ripeness of the grapes while allowing for effective yield control.
The different cuvées resulting from their terroir are recognized for their distinctive flavour, but also for their freshness and marked character.
