Domaine de Villaine is located in Bouzeron, south of Beaune, on the Chalonnaise coast in Burgundy. Wine has been produced here for centuries and in particular from Aligoté for wines with a strong personality. It is specially cultivated on hillsides (270 and 350 metres above sea level), on thin chalky soils, which allow a good control of the soil, as well as the warm climate contributes to the ripening of the grapes. The very small surface area of the appellation makes the AOC Bouzeron one of the "secrets" of Burgundy. In order to produce great wines, the quality of the grapes and their ripeness are essential. This is why the estate turned to organic farming in 1986 and certified by Qualité France in 1997.
Aligoté produces a dry white wine, fruity and lively, but also tender, with a roundness and finesse that cannot be found anywhere else in this grape variety. This perfection of the wine has earned the Aligotés de Bouzeron the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée Village BOUZERON which distinguishes them from all the other communes where Aligoté is produced.
