An Iconic Premier Grand Cru Classé from Saint-Émilion

High-altitude terroir, generational expertise and a singular identity

Château Troplong Mondot stands out as one of the finest estates in the Saint-Émilion appellation. Set atop a dominant hillside, its 33-hectare vineyard thrives on premium clay-limestone soils, ideal for producing deep, expressive wines. Classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B, it embodies the elegance and power that define Bordeaux’s right bank wines.

Under the direction of Xavier Parienté, the estate continues the legacy of Christine Valette, a visionary who elevated Troplong Mondot to the highest standards. The vineyard is primarily planted with Merlot (85%), complemented by Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Meticulous vineyard care, hand-harvesting and precision winemaking, including aging in a high proportion of new French oak, ensure consistently outstanding quality.

Each vintage delivers wines known for their silky tannins, complex aromatics, and superb aging potential. These are collectible wines that reflect the estate’s terroir and passion for excellence. You can find a curated selection, including recent en primeur releases, on 12bouteilles.

Tasting notes, food pairings and cellaring potential

Château Troplong Mondot offers an intense garnet color, rich aromas of black fruits, licorice, dark chocolate and truffle, and a full-bodied palate balanced by bright minerality. The tannins are refined, contributing to a long and harmonious finish.

Ideal pairings include grilled beef tenderloin, duck breast, game meats with rich sauces, and aged cheeses like Comté or Brie de Meaux. While best after 10 to 15 years of aging, many vintages show great promise with just a few years in bottle, especially after decanting.

The estate's second wine, Mondot, provides early-drinking pleasure while retaining the signature depth of the estate. With every bottle, Château Troplong Mondot delivers a memorable and emotional tasting experience, grounded in tradition and enhanced by modern precision.
