Terra Remota
- Great Spanish Organic Wines -
The Bournazeau Florensa family (Marc and Emma Bournazeau) bought 15ha of virgin land in 1999 and founded Terra Remota. It is located 15km from the Mediterranean Sea and benefits from a granite soil. Terra Remota is a Spanish property of 54 hectares in one piece, in the foothills of the Albères. It is composed of 15 plots, where different low-yield clones of each grape variety have been planted. The idea is to maintain part of the production with typical varieties of the area, Grenache Noir and Grenache Blanc. Varieties of French tradition that can acclimatise to the region have also been planted: Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay. As well as a grape variety from the west of Spain, Tempranillo completed this panel. The estate also owns a plot of Chenin Blanc in experimental production. The wines are under the D.O Empordà appellation and the estate is particularly sensitive to the environment of the terroir. The viticulture and winemaking process is carried out under the "ecological production" label, obtained in September 2012. Furthermore, the structure of the wine cellar allows the best integration into the natural environment and the process of gravity development, which requires minimal treatment. The estate combines vines and woods, the result offers us excellent wines that are completely different, but like members of the same family and breathtaking landscapes.
