Located in the heart of Sauternais, Château de Fargues is a historic estate producing wines of remarkable character. Owned by the same family since 1472, its legacy continues under the guidance of the Lur Saluces lineage. The vineyard’s unique terroir of gravel, sand, and clay, combined with a microclimate ideal for noble rot, allows the estate to craft complex and refined Sauternes.
Planted with Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc, the vines are cultivated with deep respect for nature. Grapes are hand-harvested in multiple passes and vinified using time-honored methods. Extended oak barrel aging imparts layers of honey, dried fruits, and spice, enhancing the wine’s aging potential over decades.
Iconic vintages such as 1929, 1967, 2001, and 2009 have earned their place among collectors and wine lovers for their elegance and longevity. While not officially classified, Château de Fargues matches the prestige of the greatest Sauternes wines, offering a unique expression of its vintage and terroir.
To experience or invest in this hidden gem, 12bouteilles offers a curated selection of Château de Fargues wines. Thanks to our close relationship with the estate, older vintages can also be sourced upon request.
