Ruinart Champagne: Elegance, Heritage and Expertise from the Oldest Champagne House
Founded in 1729 in Reims, Maison Ruinart is the oldest Champagne house. It was born from the vision of Dom Thierry Ruinart and brought to life by his nephew Nicolas. For nearly three centuries, Ruinart has embodied French excellence, tradition and a refined art of living.
At the heart of its identity lies Chardonnay, the signature grape variety of the house, bringing brightness, finesse and mineral freshness to the wines. The estate covers 17 hectares, managed sustainably, and also sources grapes from long-standing grower partnerships.
The house is also renowned for its UNESCO-listed Crayères, chalk cellars from the Roman era that provide perfect conditions for aging. Within these depths are crafted its iconic cuvées: R de Ruinart, Blanc de Blancs, and the historic Ruinart Rosé, the first rosé Champagne ever shipped in 1764.
Deeply committed to sustainability, Ruinart leads initiatives such as forest preservation with Reforest’Action, certified organic and eco-friendly vineyard practices, carbon footprint reduction and eco-designed packaging. Manual harvesting, gentle pressing, temperature-controlled fermentation and long maturation ensure unmatched quality.
Now part of LVMH since 1987, Ruinart is led by Frédéric Dufour and Jean-Marc Gallot, with cellar master Frédéric Panaïotis overseeing the blends. Ruinart remains a benchmark in fine Champagne, celebrating elegance, terroir and timeless craftsmanship.
