- Per bottleVega Sicilia takes its name from the Vega de Santa Cecilia, the former vineyard of the Abbey of Valbuena, and later the property of the Marquis of the same name, purchased by Toribio Lecanda in 1848. Located in the heart of the Ribera del Duero appellation in the north of Spain, the Vega Sicilia vineyard covers no less than 19 terroirs and 55 plots! The minimum age of the vines is 11 years. On average, the vines that make up the Unico cuvée are 35 years old, and reach their "expiration date" at 65 years old. Barrels made on the estate itself, with some of the longest maturation times in the world. The estate's wines are part of a quest for excellence that contributes to the reputation of the property. There are 3 emblematic vintages: "Reserve Especial", "Unico" and the eponymous "Valbuena".
