The Cloudy Bay estate was created by David Hohnen in 1985. He was one of the first five winemakers to settle in the Marlborough Valley, on which no one imagined that a vineyard could be established. bought the best land in the region to create what is now the reference for New Zealand wines.The estate is now owned by Louis Vuiton-Moët Hennessy (LVMH) and is named after James Cook, Arriving on New Zealand’s shores nicknamed the bay on which he threw Cloudy Bay ink because of the clouds and heavy rains that were falling there. It is a vineyard with a surface area of 310 hectares, located in the Marlborough region which today offers exceptional wines thanks to its very diversified terroir. In 30 years, this winery has become a must for New Zealand wines on the international market. These New Zealand wines are expressive, refined and fruity. Very appreciated for their finesse and freshness, these wines are made up of several grape varieties.
