Chateau de Beaucastel: Coudoulet de Beaucastel white 2020
Rhone Valley - Côtes du Rhône - White Wine -In this 2020 vintage, the Coudoulet de Beaucastel is a wine full of freshness, with white flowers, which will introduce you to the world of Beaucastel.
This is the cuvée considered as the "baby of Beaucastel" but in a Côtes-du-Rhône version.
The robe: clear and brilliant with green and golden reflections
The nose: full of freshness with a seductive bouquet of white flowers, but also notes of apricot, pear and lemon
The palate: airy, supple, straight, very good balance between fat and acidity
Château de Beaucastel: Coudoulet de Beaucastel 2020 is a superb white wine produced in Côtes-du-Rhône by the famous house of Famille Perrin Made from a blend of Bourboulenc (30%), Marsanne (30%), Viognier (30%) and Clairette (10%) the grapes come from the 3 hectare Côtes-du-Rhône appellation vineyard, located to the east of the Château de Beaucastel vineyard. Often referred to as the "little Beaucastel" we can see why when we look at the similarities between the terroirs of Château de Beaucastel and Coudoulet de Beaucastel. Indeed, they are both composed of marine molasse from the Miocene, covered by alpine diluvium; a composition that favors the development of Bourboulenc and Marsanne in particular. In appearance a "simple" Côtes-du-Rhône, which has all the assets of a great one.
Favored by very good weather conditions, the 2020 vintage was a generous year, both in terms of quality and quantity. Less hot than 2019, this year was very windy, throughout the vegetative cycle, with little rainfall. After a mild and clement winter, the spring was radiant, quite warm and very windy, which allowed the soils to preserve their freshness. The flowering starts on May 18th, in very healthy conditions. The good weather continues in June, July and August, with heat but lower temperatures than in 2019, cool and humid nights and this wind which continues to blow, preserving the freshness of the vines and maintaining the perfect sanitary quality of the grapes. The harvest, quite early, started in very good conditions on August 26th for the white Côtes-du-Rhône. The month of September, hot at the beginning then more temperate, offers idyllic harvesting conditions and allows to harvest each parcel at perfect maturity. The harvest is very healthy with beautiful juicy and ripe grapes, reasonable degrees of alcohol, a nice acidity and already a good balance. The yields are slightly higher than in 2019 and the first tastings augur a very nice vintage.
The advice of 12Bouteilles: This white Coudoulet de Beaucastel 2020 is already superb to drink with a noble fish, a dish in sauce or a white meat.
