Château Corbin: The Grace and Depth of a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé
A legacy of passion and a terroir of excellence
Located on the edge of Pomerol, Château Corbin is one of the oldest estates in the Saint-Émilion appellation. Established in the 19th century, it has been owned by the Cruse-Bardinet family since 1924. Today, Annabelle Cruse-Bardinet, a dedicated oenologist, and her husband Emmanuel Bardinet oversee the estate, combining innovation with deep respect for traditional winemaking methods.
Its 13-hectare vineyard is planted on sandy-clay soils ideal for cultivating Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%). With vines averaging 30 years in age, the estate produces grapes that capture the full complexity and richness of the Saint-Émilion terroir, resulting in wines that are elegant, structured, and expressive.
Each step of the winemaking process is carefully managed. The grapes are hand-harvested, sorted with precision, and vinified in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Aging takes place in French oak barrels over 18 to 20 months, giving the wine subtle woody notes and a silky texture that enhance its ripe fruit and spice aromas.
Refined tasting and excellent aging potential
Château Corbin is characterized by its deep ruby color, complex bouquet of black cherry, blackberry, vanilla, and licorice, and a palate that is generous and balanced. Smooth tannins and fresh acidity create a harmonious structure, making the wine approachable while young, and magnificent after aging.
With proper cellaring, Château Corbin can evolve gracefully for 10 to 20 years. It pairs beautifully with roasted game, grilled red meats, and aged cheeses, but is equally delightful alongside earthy dishes like mushroom risotto or duck breast.
The estate’s second label, XX de Corbin, is crafted from younger vines and offers a more immediate, fruit-forward expression of the château’s identity. It is approachable, elegant, and perfect for earlier enjoyment.
Château Corbin is a true Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion that combines tradition, terroir, and meticulous winemaking. Available now at 12bouteilles, it’s a refined wine that offers outstanding value and timeless pleasure.
