The Cuvée Ro-Ree 2021 produced by Louis Chèze, is certainly a magnificent, expressive and greedy Saint-Joseph on the red fruit. The name Ro-Ree was coined in 1980 from the name of a parcel of land around the estate on the Limony plateau, which means oak in the Ardèche dialect. This single variety of Syrah, whose average age of the vines is 25 years, is aged in barrels of 1 to 3 wines for 12 months depending on the vintage in order to preserve the fruity side.
Tasting notes:
The robe: cherry red dress
The nose: aromas of red and black fruits with fine spicy notes
The palate: a frank attack which opens on an opulent wine with substance, balanced and with an attractive length in the mouth
12Bouteilles advice : Serve around 16-18°C, this wine has good ageing potential. It will be perfectly served with a small game in sauce, red meat or as an accompaniment to an Asian dish.
The family property was taken over in 1978 by Mr Louis Chèze. The Louis Chèze winery is located on the top of the hillside of Limony, on the right bank of the Rhône, 60 km south of Lyon, in the heart of the Côtes du Rhône Septentrionales vineyard. M.Chèze started the adventure with 1 Ha of St Joseph and some rented vines. Today the company represents 45 hectares of prestigious appellations such as Condrieu, St Joseph and Vins de Pays.
