Beaujolais - Beaujolais-Villages - Red Wine -The Gamay Noir "Vignes d'Ecussol" 2021 is produced by the Geoffray family of the famous Château Thivin. The estate's terroir is located on a gentle slope in the charming Beaujolais village of Quincié. In the 2021 vintage, this Gamay Noir reveals a wine that is full of fruit, crisp and fresh, with a lovely nose of pure Gamay. Ideal for an aperitif with friends or a country picnic.
Tasting notes :
Colour : pretty ruby
Nose : very fresh, with tangy red fruit aromas and light spicy notes.
Palate : The freshness and roundness characteristic of Gamay are combined. The fruit aromas are fully expressed, and the finish, of moderate intensity, completes the taste experience.
The 12bouteilles advice : This wine is perfect as an aperitif or with white meats, mushrooms and fresh vegetables. This wine should be enjoyed young, and served at a temperature of 13°C.
Vignes d'Ecussol is made from Gamay Noir grapes with white juice in the Beaujolais Villages appellation, grown on 50-year-old vines in the locality of Ecussol in Quincié. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and vinified by gravity. A semi-carbonic maceration is carried out to ensure optimum extraction of the fruit.
Château Thivin, owned by the Geoffray family since 1877, has a history dating back to the 12th century, when the estate was given to Humbert III, Sire de Beaujeu. Under the aegis of the Geoffray family, the estate was extended, and significant innovations, such as the modernisation of the cuvage in 1977, were made.
Today, Claude Edouard and Sonja continue this tradition, celebrating the 140th vintage in 2017 and incorporating environmentally-friendly practices such as introducing sheep into the vines.
