Château Suduiraut 2019

Bordeaux - Sauternes - 1er Cru Classé - Sweet wine -

The 2019 vintage was characterized by a rainy late fall and early winter, very mild temperatures and only one week-long cold spell during this period. Rainfall at the beginning of the vegetative cycle in April required particular vigilance to avoid possible damage due to mildew. The weather conditions at the beginning of June were mixed. From mid-June onwards, temperatures rose sharply and the estate was confronted with two heat waves at the end of June and the end of July, which the vines fortunately coped with well. On July 26, a heavy thunderstorm (more than 100 mm) brought down the temperatures and replenished some water reserves in the soil. Ripening was relaunched in a generally dry August. The whole vineyard was very healthy.

The harvest took place in successive selections between September 17 and October 30. The very dry weather in September caused the beginnings of Botrytis attacks to fade. When the harvest resumed on October 10th, a very interesting quality of the different batches was noted; a quality worthy of the greatest vintages.

Château Suduiraut, Premier Cru Classé in 1855, is made from a selection of the most prestigious terroirs of the estate. This wine, entirely made to order, reveals an incredible complexity and a great beauty in its robe. Château Suduiraut 2019 is the result of a blend of mostly Semillon (94%), with a small share of Sauvignon Blanc (6%) and aged 50% in new barrels and 50% in one-wine barrels for 16 to 20 months depending on the wine's evolution.

Tasting notes:

The robe: sunny color, turning to amber with age

The nose: combines with harmony and power aromas of flowers, fruits, candied and roasted grapes

The palate: suave, unctuous, with an affirmed sweetness, powerful and of an impressive length

The advice of 12Bouteilles: can be appreciated as well in its youth as in a few years. Château Suduiraut 2019 will sublimate a fruity dessert, a cheese platter and of course will be sublime on a foie gras.
