Château Charmail 2016
Bordeaux - Haut Médoc - Cru Bourgeois - Red Wine -Château Charmail in the 2016 vintage is a beautiful bottle.
The wine has a beautiful ruby red color with intense reflections. The nose sublime aromas of black fruit, cherry, blackberry and leather. In the mouth, the wine has a beautiful woody attack and the fruits are revealed. In the end, the tannins are already supple still present which is normal for a wine so young.
A great vintage rated 92/100 by Wine Advocate Robert Parker : The 2016 Charmail is blended of 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 10% Petit Verdot aged for 12 months in roughly one-third each new, one-year-old and two-year-old French oak barrels. Deep garnet-purple in color, it delivers intense scents of crème de cassis, cedar chest and pencil lead with touches of yeast extract and menthol. Medium to full-bodied with a firm frame of chewy tannins and plenty of mint-laced fruit, it finishes just a little woody at this youthful stage but should dial that in beautifully with another year or two in bottle.
The advice of 12bouteilles: If you like young and powerful wines, this bottle is for you. A few months of bottles will release all the aromas of this great vintage. Château Charmail will perfectly accompany the winter a pan-fried foie gras, in the summer on a beautiful rib of beef on the barbecue. Note that it is important to open an hour before serving it to free all its aromas ...
