Château Croix-Mouton: The true expression of a Bordeaux Supérieur
A heritage estate rooted in terroir, precision and sustainability
Château Croix-Mouton is a benchmark property located on Bordeaux’s right bank, nestled on Carney Island near Fronsac. Its 19 hectares of clay and alluvial soils offer perfect conditions for growing Merlot and Cabernet Franc. These emblematic varietals thrive here, producing wines that are rich, velvety, and elegantly structured.
Since 1997, the estate has been owned by the Janoueix family, a historic name in Bordeaux viticulture. The family has implemented meticulous winemaking techniques while preserving the traditions that shaped the region’s reputation. Manual harvesting, temperature-controlled fermentation, and aging in oak barrels for at least 12 months are standard practice, in line with the requirements of the Bordeaux Supérieur designation.
The 2014 vintage is a fine illustration of this philosophy. With a vibrant ruby hue, aromas of ripe red fruit, supple tannins, and a silky finish, this wine demonstrates balance and finesse. The oak aging adds a refined layer of complexity without overshadowing the natural fruit character, making it both accessible and sophisticated.
Versatile food pairing and eco-conscious winemaking
The wines of Château Croix-Mouton are incredibly food-friendly. Their balanced profile complements grilled meats, stews, game, and aged cheeses, while also pairing well with spiced dishes or mushroom-based recipes. The blend of Merlot softness and Cabernet Franc structure provides complexity and versatility at the table.
The estate also embraces sustainable agriculture. With environmentally responsible vineyard management, minimal chemical inputs, and a focus on preserving biodiversity, Château Croix-Mouton prioritizes both wine quality and ecological balance. This commitment is reflected in every bottle, ensuring an authentic experience for wine lovers and a future-proof legacy for the terroir.
These refined cuvées are available on 12bouteilles.com, carefully selected for their typicity, elegance, and outstanding value within the Bordeaux Supérieur category.
