The old cure is a 17th century wine estate located in Fronsac, spread over 8 hectares, the vineyard occupies a privileged site of trays and coasts oriented South-East, along the Isle River, on a rise of 65 meters, the property benefits from ideal solar exposure and efficient drainage, which gives the grapes a generous maturity under perfect sanitary conditions. Because of difficult access in steep terrain for harvesting machines but also for qualitative reasons, the majority of the vineyard is harvested manually. A double sort ensures the choice of good grains, they remain for nearly a month at controlled temperature. In 1780, the castle appears on the famous map of Guyenne, known as Belleyme. In 1986, the estate was bought and renovated by American amateurs of Bordeaux wines. The new owners have kept the old vines, whose average age is approaching 40, and yet have built a new winery where the most modern wine-making equipment is installed. The owners have the ambition of perfection and intend to continue their efforts to bring their wine to the forefront of the wines of the Right Bank. The wines produced at Château La Vieille Cure are outstanding wines of aging. Some vintages can wait more than 10 years, but sometimes it is more profitable to taste them in the 4-6 year olds. The wines of the estate are full of fruit, aroma and tannins, they are wonderful during meals and blend perfectly with spicy dishes. Among the estate’s wines, we have selected Château la Vieille Cure 2006 as well as the 2012 vintage, red wines that are gourmet, tasty and fruity.
