Château Doisy-Daëne, a Second Growth in the historic 1855 classification, is one of the great names of the Barsac-Sauternes region. Its 18-hectare vineyard, located on clay-limestone soils, is perfectly suited to the development of Botrytis cinerea—known as noble rot—which concentrates sugars and aromas in the grapes. This natural process gives birth to sweet wines of exceptional intensity, depth, and complexity.
The vineyard is composed mainly of Sémillon (86%), with Sauvignon Blanc (14%) adding freshness and aromatic lift. Thanks to the morning mists and sunny afternoons typical of the area, the grapes ripen slowly and botrytize perfectly. The Dubourdieu family, custodians of the estate for generations, applies a meticulous winemaking process: hand-harvesting in successive passes, gentle pressing, fermentation in stainless steel, and aging in oak barrels for 12 to 18 months to bring out the best of the terroir.
Château Doisy-Daëne’s Grand Vin offers a dazzling aromatic profile, with notes of candied citrus, honey, apricot, and white flowers. Its balance of sweetness and acidity ensures a refreshing mouthfeel and a long, elegant finish. Perfect pairings include foie gras, blue cheese, or exotic fruit-based desserts.
The estate also produces a dry white wine dominated by Sauvignon Blanc. Crisp, mineral, and highly expressive, it pairs beautifully with seafood and light dishes. The prestigious L’Extravagant de Doisy-Daëne—produced only in exceptional vintages—is a wine of extraordinary concentration and richness, with exotic fruit, caramel, and spice notes, built to age for decades.
