Harvest, vinification and maturation
50% Sciacarellu, 50% Niellucciu.
Yields: 30 Hl/Ha.
The maturing in oak barrels of 50 Hl during 18 months gives roundness and suppleness to the wines.
Tasting notes : Castellu di Baricci 2019
The dress is ruby red. Its nose of spices supports notes of red fruits (strawberry and raspberry). Its frank attack opens on a very full and fat mouth with a lot of aromatic return spicy and slightly cocoa. It is a wine with finesse, to be drunk at room temperature, which accompanies lamb and dishes in sauce. Keeps for 5 to 10 years.
About the Domaine:
It is in the heart of the beautiful Ortolo Valley in the commune of Sartene that Castellu di Baricci is nestled. At the foot of the Omu di Cagna mountains, which rise to 1217 m, the estate has been run by the same family since the beginning of the 19th century and has contributed to the wine reputation of the valley.
A new lease of life in 2000 helped the rebirth of the estate, which today finds its legitimacy through a quality production on a property of more than 150 hectares. The estate took the name of Castellu di Baricci, a medieval castle overlooking the valley, seat of Renucciu della Rocca. Cradle of noble products, this agricultural entity is declined around the culture of the vine and the olive-trees.
The advice of 12 bouteilles: one of the most emblematic vintages of Sartene, a great wine to drink with meat and cheese, can be enjoyed both on its youth and its fruit after 2 to 5 years of aging.
