Boris Champy : Hautes-Côtes de Beaune "Le Clou 377" 2021

Burgundy - Haute Côte de Beaune - Red Wine -

Hautes-Côtes de Beaune "Le Clou 377" 2021 is a wine produced in Burgundy by Domaine Boris Champy. In 2021, Burgundy has demonstrated exceptional expertise, raising the region to a level of excellence despite extremely low yields. The winemaking processes are characterised by great precision, with delicate extraction of tannins for the red wines and meticulous preservation of the aromatic balance of the white wines. The first musts, fresh and fruity, heralded expressive wines with considerable ageing potential and perfect balance, for both red and white wines.

In 2021, Burgundy was reminiscent of the prestigious Burgundy vintages of the 1990s, with its liveliness, finesse and rich aromatic profile.

Tasting notes:

The robe: an attractive, intense crimson red.

The nose: The nose reveals an aromatic palette rich in spices and slightly enchanted by notes of incense. Aromas of red cherries, prunes and wild strawberries blend harmoniously, while a subtle hint of minerality is interwoven with an elegant, discreet woodiness.

The palate: On the palate, Le Clou 377 is distinguished by its fine tannins which delicately entwine black fruit aromas. Its lively acidity adds a certain dynamism on the palate, while its velvety character is particularly pleasing. The judicious incorporation of a third of new oak adds complexity without dominating, offering remarkable depth.

This cuvée is made from 100% Pinot Noir according to the principles of biodynamic agriculture. This wine comes from our plot in Nantoux, known as "Au Clou". From the 2020 vintage onwards, it will proudly bear the name "Altitude 377" and the locality name "Au Clou" on its label.

The particularity of this parcel lies in its extremely stony soil, which is remarkably marly in colour. The marly clays in the soil provide an exceptional water supply. You could even say that this soil is a little reminiscent of the 'Châteauneuf-du-Pape' in Burgundy, because of its stoniness.

The advice 12Bouteilles:  This wine is best enjoyed with stewed dishes such as the classic boeuf bourguignon, grilled duck breast or a succulent rack of lamb. As for its ageing potential, we recommend leaving it to mature for between 8 and 15 years to reach its peak.
