This 2021 vintage is more accessible than the 3 previous vintages, you could start to drink them before 2020, 2019 and 2018.
2021 is a success! I think the right word to describe Testamatta is "meaty". I say "meaty" because there is a combination of fat, transparency and freshness. It's like when you take a steak of Kobe beef, we cut it and put it on the fire... and it melts. This beautiful fat, which is the most astonishing thing in the world, combined with the transparency and freshness of the red fruits. This combination in Testamatta is truly magical." Bibi Graetz
In this vintage, the two wines (Testamatta and Colore) are 100% Sangiovese, an indigenous grape variety often compared to Pinot Noir.
"It is a pure Sangiovese which has the class of the great wines of Burgundy. Reminiscent of La Tache de Romanée Conti" Wine Spectator.
The vineyard is located on the hills of Fiesole which overlook the city of Florence. The cellar is located in a former historic hotel.Each vineyard has been harvested up to 8 times, allowing the grapes to be hand-picked at an optimal level of ripeness.
Fermentation with indigenous yeasts in open barrels, before aging for 22 months.
The bottling of the 2021 vintage was done in March.
