VivaltuS is a great Ribera del Duero wine. The VivaltuS project consists of something completely new in Ribera del Duero; a different wine, elegant and fresh, hedonistic and long-lasting, highlighting the terroirs, landscapes and complexity of the vineyards in every bottle
Tasting the 2020 Vintage
The nose exudes aromas of black fruits followed by delicate lavender.
The palate is complex and delicate, smooth with very fine tannins and magnificent length.
The tasters' scores are glowing:
97/100 from Antonio Galloni of Vinous,
96/100 from Tim Atkin and James Suckling
95/100 from Wine Advocate.
The 2020 vintage is composed of 97% Tempranillo, the emblematic grape variety of Ribera, and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon.
90% of the wines were aged for 11 months in French oak barrels, 15% in new barrels, and the remaining 10% in terracotta amphorae.
The Vivaltus terroir is located at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level and the vines are between 80 and 100 years old.
12bouteilles advice: Serve at around 18°C, enjoy it with a fine red meat or game
A wine produced by their winemaker Montxo Martínez, with the expertise of Jean-Claude Berrouet (Petrus) acting as a close consulting oenologist.
“I fell in love with the VivaltuS project from day one. Working hand in hand with the passionate Montxo Martínez is a real pleasure. VivaltuS is our new way of understanding Ribera del Duero. We have tried to develop freshness, sensuality, elegance, finesse, hedonism, and longevity” (Jean Claude Berrouet, former Petrus winemaker).
