Iglesia Vella 2023 means ‘old church’ because it comes from a single plot on the site of the village's former church. It is produced by Domaine Roc des Anges, a leading name in Roussillon. Made from old Grenache Gris vines, cultivated using organic and biodynamic methods and aged on lees, this cuvée offers a mineral, long, salty white wine with remarkable drinkability. The 2023 vintage is distinguished by its freshness, aromatic precision and subtle depth typical of schist terroirs.
Tasting notes:
Colour: Clear, bright gold.
Nose: Intense minerality, notes of sweet almond and cashew nut. Then come banana, yellow peach, quince and pineapple.
Palate: Flavours of peach coulis, pear and plum, joined by citrus fruits.
12bouteilles advice: Perfect with fish or mushroom risotto, but also with gnocchi with gorgonzola and walnuts. Serving temperature: 10-12°C. Drink now or within the next 5 years.
The Roc des Anges estate was created in 2001 in the Pyrenean foothills, mainly on the slopes of Montner. The vineyard covers 35 hectares and has been cultivated biodynamically since 2011.
