M. Chapoutier Les Meysonniers Crozes-Hermitage Red 2024 is an organic Syrah from the alluvial terroirs of the southern part of the appellation. Generous and immediately expressive, the 2024 combines blackcurrant, raspberry, red fruit and violet with a broad, rounded palate and fleshy tannins. Ageing predominantly in concrete preserves the purity of the fruit, making this an approachable, elegant introduction to the classic Syrah character of Crozes-Hermitage.
Colour: very intense purplish red.
Nose: expressive and inviting, dominated by red fruit, blackcurrant and raspberry before opening onto attractive violet notes.
Palate: broad and rounded, with fleshy tannins and generous texture without excessive weight. Dark fruit and floral notes continue through the palate, leading into a finish of stewed fruit with a subtle vanilla nuance.
Les Meysonniers is made exclusively from Syrah. The grapes come from the southern part of the Crozes-Hermitage appellation, particularly around Mercurol, Pont-de-l'Isère and Beaumont-Monteux. The vineyards occupy alluvial terroirs shaped by the ancient terraces of the Rhône and Isère rivers, with soils combining clay, pebbles and gravel.
Following destemming, vinification takes place in concrete vats. Fermentation uses native yeasts with moderate sulphur additions. Skin maceration lasts between three and four weeks, extracting colour, texture and tannin while retaining Syrah's expressive fruit and floral character.
The wine is matured for approximately 12 months, with 90% in unlined concrete vats and only 10% in barrels. This limited use of oak is central to the Les Meysonniers style, keeping blackcurrant, raspberry and violet at the forefront while bringing sufficient structure and roundness to the Syrah.
Certified organic, Les Meysonniers is one of the most approachable expressions of M. Chapoutier's work in Crozes-Hermitage. The wine focuses on generosity and elegance rather than sheer concentration, offering a clear expression of Syrah with vibrant fruit, floral notes and supple, fleshy tannins.
Serve Les Meysonniers 2024 at 15-17°C. It pairs particularly well with roast veal and mushroom sauce, grilled poultry, pork tenderloin, lamb chops, mushrooms and mature cheeses. Its fruit-driven character and supple tannins also make it suitable for more informal dishes when served slightly cool.
An excellent introduction to Crozes-Hermitage Syrah without the need for extended cellaring. The 2024 focuses on fruit, violet and fleshy tannins rather than pronounced oak. We recommend serving it at around 16°C after simply opening the bottle 20 to 30 minutes before the meal.

Yes. The 2024 already offers expressive fruit, a rounded palate and fleshy tannins, making it enjoyable in its youth. There is no need to wait several years for the wine to become approachable, which is one of the main attractions of this cuvée.
Both provide an accessible introduction to Crozes-Hermitage, but Les Meysonniers offers greater structure and approximately 12 months of ageing, predominantly in concrete. It provides additional depth and texture while retaining a strongly fruit-driven profile.
Sicamor sits higher within M. Chapoutier's Crozes-Hermitage range and aims for greater depth and terroir expression. Les Meysonniers offers a more immediately generous and approachable style of Syrah. Choose Les Meysonniers for earlier drinking and Sicamor if you are looking for greater structure and cellaring potential.
Only minimally. 90% of the wine is matured in unlined concrete vats and just 10% in barrels. Oak therefore remains secondary, allowing red and dark fruit, violet and Syrah's generous character to remain at the forefront.
Extended decanting is unnecessary. For a young bottle, opening it 20 to 30 minutes before serving should be sufficient to allow the fruit and floral notes to emerge. A brief decant immediately before dinner can be useful if you want to accelerate aeration.
M. Chapoutier recommends 15 to 17°C. Around 16°C is particularly suitable, preserving the freshness of the fruit and violet aromas without making the tannins feel firmer. This Syrah is therefore best served slightly cool rather than at room temperature.
