Marques de Riscal is one of the most beautiful winery in Rioja. Wines produced in the domain is a classic: fresh, fine, elegant and with great aging potential.
The first vintage of Barón de Chirel appeared in 1986 following wine-making experiments with a selection of grapes from very old vines, aged 80 to 110 years, with very low yields and very high quality.
From the results of these tests, a new style of wine was born, the precursor of what one could call the wines of Rioja "new era".
This wine is produced in a very limited quantity, and only in the best vintages, when it can express the full character of the vineyard, the terroir and the variety, brought together in a harmonious whole.
The Baron wines of Chirel Reserva are mainly made from tempranillo (70%) and Oltras (30%) grapes planted before the 1970s, grown on the best terroir of Rioja. This variety has good aging potential thanks to its balanced acidity and fine tannins.
This 2014 vintage by Baron de Chirel presents a beautiful dark black cherry color with a deep robe. the nose has a powerful aromatic intensity, in which the spicy and toasty character of the Allier oak stands out. Candied fruits with black berries. A fresh and creamy mouth, supple and elegant tannins and a long and balanced finish.
The advice of 12bouteilles: To serve between 16 ° C and 18 ° C, it goes well with red meats, vegetables and soft cheeses.
