In this Mâcon-Villages cuvée, from Maison Trenel is a fine expression of Chardonnay from the southern Burgundy hillsides, both charming and elegant. Crafted with care from vines planted on limestone soils, this wine strikes a subtle balance between pure fruit, fresh minerality, and silky texture. It is aimed at those who seek a white wine that is approachable in its youth yet capable of offering fine complexity.
Our Tasting – Vintage 2024:
Appearance: Pale yellow with bright green highlights, reflecting youth and vibrancy.
Nose: Seductive and expressive, dominated by aromas of green apple, pear, and citrus (lemon, pink grapefruit), followed by delicate floral notes of hawthorn and acacia. A discreet touch of flint adds tension and minerality.
Palate: Fresh and direct on the attack, with immediate purity of fruit and delicate flesh supported by an elegant fluidity. The mid-palate develops a fine, silky texture, with acidity that is well integrated. Subtle limestone minerality provides depth and relief. The finish is persistent, with a gentle saline edge and lingering flavors of citrus and flowers.
12bouteilles' Advice: The Mâcon-Villages 2024 is delightful now but will continue to gain character over the next 3 to 5 years. It pairs beautifully with seafood starters (oysters, shellfish), grilled fish, poultry in a light cream sauce, or aged goat’s cheese. For lovers of refined, elegant Chardonnay, this cuvée from Maison Trenel offers a fresh alternative to the great terroirs of Burgundy, while maintaining remarkable drinkability.
