The Cuvée Saxeolum 2023 produced by Louis Chèze, is elaborated since the 2003 vintage. It is a parcel of 2 hectares located in the hillsides of Seysseul benefiting from a southern orientation. This single variety of Syrah is aged in new barrels for 18 to 22 months depending on the vintage.
Tasting notes:
The robe: ruby, clear and deep
The nose: great complexity, black fruits, sweet spices, finely wooded and roasted
The palate: ample and generous, silky tannins, persistent finish
12Bouteilles advice: To be served around 16-18°C, to be decanted on the youth 2 or 4 hours before the service, this wine has a beautiful potential of keeping. It will be perfectly served with red meat and dishes in sauce.
The family property was taken over in 1978 by Mr Louis Chèze. The Louis Chèze winery is located on the top of the hillside in the commune of Limony, on the right bank of the Rhône, 60 km south of Lyon, in the heart of the Côtes du Rhône Septentrionales vineyard. M.Chèze started the adventure with 1 Ha of St Joseph and some rented vines. Today the house represents 45 Ha on prestigious appellations such as Condrieu, St Joseph and Vins de Pays.
