In this Morgon cuvée, the Morgon 2023 from the Maison Joseph Drouhin delivers a brilliant and refined interpretation of a great Beaujolais wine, made from Gamay. Here is our tasting note:
Appearance: deep garnet with rich intensity.
Nose: powerful and expressive, with aromas of ripe cherries and wild berries.
Palate: fleshy and well-structured, offering great depth. A wine with plenty of character and a long, persistent finish reminiscent of fine Côte d'Or reds.
The Morgon 2023 is made from Gamay, grown in Villié-Morgon in the heart of Beaujolais, between Régnié and Chiroubles. The soil, composed of fragmented schist with mica, gives this wine its distinctive style and aging potential. Grapes are sourced from trusted growers and hand-sorted when necessary. Vinification follows the traditional Beaujolais semi-carbonic maceration method, using whole clusters for 4 to 10 days. The wine is then aged in tanks for 10 to 12 months.
With its structured profile, aromatic intensity, and long finish, this Morgon 2023 is a characterful cru that reflects the identity of its terroir. A perfect choice for lovers of complex and elegant Beaujolais wines.
12bouteilles' Tip: Serve around 15°C. A great pairing with veal chops and chanterelles, roast duck breast, or aged cheeses. Enjoy now or cellar for 5 to 7 years.
