E. Guigal : Les Vignes de l'Hospice Saint Joseph 2019

Rhone Valley - Saint-Joseph - Red Wine -

Les Vignes de L'Hospice 2019 is unquestionably among the best-value wines from Maison Guigal.

Located on the most impressive and exclusive hillside of the Saint Joseph appellation, Les Vignes de l'Hospice Saint Joseph comes from the former Jean-Louis Gripppat and Vallouit estate. This Saint Joseph represents the finesse of its appellation while being powerful, just like Hermitage on the opposite bank.

This 100% Syrah wine is made from vines aged between 20 and 80 years and illustrates the finesse and power of its appellation. It is aged in barrels for 30 months in the cellars of the Maison E.Guigal, entirely in new French oak barrels.

Tasting notes

The robe: Dark red robe
The nose: Complex nose with black fruits and delicate aromas of new wood. The nose is powerful and intense
The Palate: The attack is powerful. The tannins are powerful but remain fine and elegant

Coming from a geological formation similar to the famous hill of Bessards in Hermitage, this Saint Joseph has the finesse of its Appellation and the power of its neighbour facing the river.

12bouteilles' advice: Serve it around 17°C, it will be the perfect accompaniment to a good cheese platter, to be kept for at least 5 years.
