Pierre Amiot : Gevrey Chambertin 2019

Burgundy - Gevrey Chambertin - 1er Cru - Red Wine -

The Gevrey Chambertin 2019 from Domaine Pierre Amiot is a great wine from the Côte de Nuits region. Obviously 100% Pinot Noir, this vintage comes from 55-year-old vines.

The two plots of 52 acres are located on two so-called places: “Champs chenys” and “Seuvres”. It is produced only at 1200 bottles per vintage.

The name "Gevrey" could come from its geographical location in the combe de Lavaut. In Latin, “Gaba” means “gorge” or “gave” which designates a torrent flowing down a gorge. The name "Gevrey" appears in 1219.

Terroir

The vineyard is exposed to the east, south-east levant, at an altitude of 250m. Gevrey-Chambertin is based on clay-limestone soils comprising clayey marls with the particularity of being very ferruginous.

Tasting note:

The Color: ruby wine which presents a beautiful clarity. Typical nose of the Côte de Nuits, aromas of small red fruits (cherries, raspberries). Taste examination: good balance between mellow / acid / tannins. It is a generous wine that also offers a lot of fruit in the retro-olfaction. Good length, this wine is pleasant on the finish.

Food and wine pairing:

Gevrey-Chambertin, served at a temperature of 16 ° C, goes very well with red meats and mature cheeses.
