In this 2022 vintage, the Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru “Les Narbantons” from Mongeard-Mugneret stands out as one of the finest successes in the Côte de Beaune, in a particularly promising year. Here is our tasting note:
The Color: intense ruby, livelier than in other village appellations, reflecting the assertive character of this climat.
The Nose: elegant and powerful, dominated by ripe red fruit aromas—cherry and raspberry—enhanced by subtle floral and spicy notes.
The Palate: beautifully concentrated, marked by fine, silky tannins. There is a pleasing freshness, guaranteeing good aging potential, with an overall balance that is already mouthwatering.
This 2022 vintage from Mongeard-Mugneret comes from vines that are around 53 years old, planted entirely with Pinot Noir. The grapes are harvested exclusively by hand, allowing for meticulous sorting, followed by 100% destemming. The wine is aged in oak barrels (30 to 40% new), imparting both a strong structure and an already perceptible aromatic complexity to this Premier Cru “Les Narbantons.”
Elegantly crafted, this Premier Cru perfectly reflects the finesse of Savigny-lès-Beaune terroirs: limestone soils with sandstone marls that lend both delicacy and tannic grip. It can be enjoyed young with great pleasure, but in strong vintages, it can also age exceptionally well in the cellar.
The 2022 vintage impresses with its intensity and precision. Thanks to ideal conditions, the wine is concentrated yet remains subtle and balanced, ready to age for 8 to 12 years or even more, depending on cellar conditions.
The 12bouteilles Advice: A magnificent Premier Cru from Burgundy, signed by Mongeard-Mugneret. Open it at least 1 hour before tasting to fully reveal its aromatic range. It pairs beautifully with roasted Bresse chicken or aged cheeses. A wine of great elegance, truly built for long aging!
