Bordeaux - Pessac-Leognan - 2nd Wine - Red Wine -L’Esprit de Chevalier Red 2022 is the second wine of Domaine de Chevalier, a Classified Growth of Graves and one of the leading estates of Pessac-Léognan. Produced from younger vines and dedicated selections, it benefits from the same expertise and high standards as the Grand Vin. The well-balanced 2022 vintage delivers an elegant, precise and already approachable wine with fine aging potential.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: deep garnet with purple highlights, brilliant.
Nose: expressive and refined, revealing ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), black cherry, complemented by graphite, fine spices, blond tobacco and a subtle smoky touch typical of Pessac-Léognan.
Palate: broad and harmonious, with a dense yet beautifully controlled core supported by fine, silky and well-integrated tannins. Natural freshness brings balance and length to an elegant, persistent and gourmand finish.
Terroir & Blend
The vineyards for L’Esprit de Chevalier lie on fine, deep gravel soils over clay-gravel subsoils within Pessac-Léognan. The 2022 blend is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and a touch of Petit Verdot, delivering structure, roundness and aromatic precision.
Winemaking & Aging
Hand-harvested grapes with meticulous sorting. Parcel-by-parcel vinification in temperature-controlled vats with carefully managed macerations to preserve fruit purity and tannin finesse. Aged in French oak barrels with a moderate proportion of new oak, seamlessly integrated.
Food Pairings
Perfect with grilled or roasted red meats, duck breast, roast poultry, sauced dishes or aged cheeses. Serve at 60–64 °F (16–18 °C). Decant for about 1 hour when young.
