Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir 2023 is a refined expression of Marlborough Pinot Noir from one of New Zealand’s most iconic wine producers. While Cloudy Bay is widely known for its Sauvignon Blanc, this Pinot Noir demonstrates the estate’s mastery in crafting elegant red wines with purity, finesse and a distinct sense of place. The 2023 vintage is marked by freshness, excellent balance and a subtly complex aromatic profile.
Appearance: deep ruby with luminous highlights.
Nose: delicate and expressive, with aromas of red fruits (raspberry, cherry), currant, subtle floral notes (peony), forest floor and gentle spice.
Palate: elegant and structured. The entry is supple, developing with beautiful fruit energy. Fine, delicate tannins are supported by balanced freshness. The finish is persistent, refined and saline with lingering aromatic nuance.
Grapes for the Pinot Noir 2023 come from carefully selected parcels in Marlborough, where alluvial and gravelly soils promote optimal ripeness while retaining natural vibrancy. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and French oak barrels with precise temperature control and gentle extraction to preserve fruit purity and finesse. Barrel aging (including some new oak) provides structure while respecting the wine’s fruit character.
Perfect with dishes such as spiced duck breast, grilled beef fillet, grilled salmon, mushroom risotto or soft-ripened cheeses. Serve between 59–63 °F (15–17 °C). Light decanting is recommended to fully release its aromatic complexity.
