This signature cuvée, Les Poyeux 2019 from Clos Rougeard highlights the finesse of Loire Valley Cabernet Franc grown on sandy-clay soils. More delicate in style than the estate’s other wines, it charms with elegance and depth. Here’s our tasting note:
Color: Clear garnet red with ruby reflections.
Nose: Refined and expressive, with aromas of black cherry, violet, licorice and gentle spice.
Palate: Smooth and silky, with soft tannins and fresh acidity. The mouth shows floral and red fruit tones, finely spiced, leading to a long, mineral finish.
Les Poyeux 2019 is made from 100% Cabernet Franc grown on sandy and clay soils that bring finesse and aromatic precision. Hand-harvested grapes are gently vinified and aged for 24 months in oak barrels. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration to preserve its natural identity.
More approachable in youth than Le Bourg or Le Clos, the 2019 vintage offers perfect harmony between subtlety and structure, while still offering excellent aging potential.
12bouteilles’ Tip: Serve slightly cool (16 °C), after opening 1 hour in advance. Pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, veal with morels, or a truffle-infused vegetarian dish. Can age for 10 to 20 years.
