Clos Marsalette 2022 is a refined and expressive Pessac-Léognan red wine, crafted under the direction of family-owned by Stephan von Neipperg, who also owns several classified growths in Saint Emilion (Canon la Gaffelière, Clos l'Oratoire, La Mondotte) and Didier Miqueu. In the outstanding 2022 vintage, the wine stands out for its balance between aromatic intensity, silky texture and mineral freshness, offering a modern yet terroir-driven style.
Appearance: deep, brilliant garnet.
Nose: expressive and elegant with ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), black cherry, complemented by graphite, gentle spices, blond tobacco and subtle smoky notes.
Palate: broad and harmonious with a dense yet finely chiseled core. Fine, silky tannins and mineral freshness provide tension and precision, leading to a long, refined finish.
The vineyards of Clos Marsalette lie on deep gravel soils over clay-limestone subsoils, typical of Pessac-Léognan. The 2022 blend is led by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and a touch of Cabernet Franc, delivering structure, elegance and aging potential.
Hand-harvested grapes with strict sorting. Parcel-by-parcel vinification in temperature-controlled vats with carefully managed macerations to preserve aromatic purity and tannin finesse. Aged in French oak barrels with a measured proportion of new oak, seamlessly integrated.
Perfect with grilled or roasted red meats, beef fillet, rack of lamb, fine poultry or refined sauced dishes. Serve at 60–64 °F (16–18 °C). Decant for 1–2 hours when young.
Clos Marsalette 2022 is an elegant, approachable Pessac-Léognan. Enjoyable with aeration today, it will evolve gracefully gaining aromatic depth and complexity.
