Clos du Marquis 2014

Long considered as the second wine of the Château Léoville Las Cases, the Clos du Marquis is now a full-fledged estate. Property of the Delon family, the Clos du Marquis comes from the great terroirs of the Saint-Julien appellation that were not part of the cadastre of the former Domaine de Léoville.
The blend of this 2014 vintage is composed of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc.
The wine is aged for 50% in new oak barrels.
This 2014 vintage has a good concentration of Cabernet and also a good aromatic freshness.
Its dark purple color is followed by a complex nose of cassis, smoky earth, tobacco and pencil. With a full-bodied, mature, concentrated, structured and impressive length, this vintage is to be kept in the cellar for at least 7 to 8 years.
Its mouth volume, precision and aromatic nobility now rival the best vintages
The advice of 12bouteilles: A magnificent vintage with a good aging potential. The Clos du Marquis 2015 is a perfect accompaniment to mushroom dishes, red meats, grilled or in sauce, game, lamb and cheeses. Remember to decant 1 hour before serving to express its full potential.
Wine Advocate-Parker : 92/100
There is lovely balance here, fresh and focused with a touch of graphite borrowed from over the border in Pauillac. This is an excellent Clos du Marquis that will give 20 years of pleasure.
