Clos des Papes 2020

Rhone Valley - Châteauneuf-du-Pape - Red Wine -

Le Clos des Papes 2020, owned by Paul-Vincent Avril, is one of the superstars of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation recognized by critics.
The 2020 vintage is a blend of 55% , 35% Mourvèdre and 10% and a few other varieties.
Production is 100,000 bottles in this 2020 vintage.
The dress: deep red
The nose: full of complexity with aromas of spices characteristic of Mourvèdre and notes of red fruits (cherries, blackberries, blackcurrants).
The palate: the notes of liquorice are found, the wines are straight with exceptionally silky tannins because they result from an excellent maturity, persistence in the mouth, good length.

In line with 2010 and 2016 and 2019, with a frame focused on power and structure, the Clos des Papes red 2020 is both rich and complex, powerful but balanced with great elegance.

"If the elders got bored planting 13 grape varieties, it's good so that they are vinified together"

Le Conseil de 12bouteilles : This Clos des Papes red 2020 is a sublime Cru cut for laying down which will be at its peak between 2025 and 2035. To be opened at least 2 hours before tasting and to taste on a nice piece of grilled meat, game , or even cheeses.
