Château d'Yquem 2005
Bordeaux - Sauternes - 1er Cru ClasséCru Classé - Sweet wine -
Château d'Yquem 2005 is a magical wine, considered the best sweet wine in the world, the Château d'Yquem is the 1st Cru Classé of Sauternes wines. Located south of Bordeaux in the heart of the Sauternes appellation near Langon, it now belongs to the LVMH group Moët Hennessy-Louis Vuitton and is managed by Pierre Lurton also to the queens of Château Cheval Blanc, another banner of the group. This wine is a nugget for collectors!
Made from a blend of grape varieties, 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc, this 2005 vintage has a beautiful light yellow color. Its nose delivers aromas of dried fruit, figs and apricots, as well as light aromas of vanilla. The palate is fresh, with spicy and fruity notes and the finish is long.
A rich and powerful vintage ... simply sublime!
The advice of 12bouteilles: An exceptional vintage, to open for a big occasion. Yquem wines can be appreciated both young and old. This 2005 vintage will perfectly match a blue cheese or a refined county.
According to the owner, "To appreciate the light afforded by the opening of a Yquem, it is appropriate to be three, the bottle, a friend and self."
