Château Potensac 2022 is one of the historic benchmarks of the Médoc appellation, renowned for producing long-lived, classically styled wines. Owned by the Delon family (also proprietors of Léoville Las Cases), the estate benefits from a distinctive northern Médoc terroir, delivering structure, freshness and outstanding aromatic precision. The well-balanced 2022 vintage offers a powerful, straight and age-worthy Potensac.
Appearance: deep garnet with violet highlights, dense and brilliant.
Nose: intense and precise, revealing blackcurrant, blackberry and black cherry, complemented by graphite, cedar, fine spices and a subtle menthol touch.
Palate: straight and structured, with a dense, compact core supported by firm, ripe and perfectly defined tannins. Freshness from the northern Médoc terroir brings tension and length to a long, refined and persistent finish.
The vineyards of Château Potensac lie on clay-gravel and marl-limestone soils particularly suited to Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The 2022 blend is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot and a significant proportion of Cabernet Franc, delivering structure, verticality and excellent aging capacity.
Hand-harvested grapes with meticulous sorting. Traditional vinification with long, carefully managed macerations to extract noble tannins without hardness. Aged in French oak barrels with a moderate proportion of new oak, seamlessly integrated.
Perfect with roasted or grilled red meats, dry-aged beef, rack of lamb, stews or game dishes. Serve at 60–64 °F (16–18 °C). Decant for about 2 hours when young.
Château Potensac 2022 is a classic, age-worthy Médoc. Already impressive for its structure and precision, it will evolve gracefully gaining complexity and tertiary depth.
