Château Léoville-Poyferré 2022 embodies the essence of Saint-Julien in one of its most accomplished vintages. This Second Growth presents depth, balance and elegance: controlled power, saline tension and refined structure. In this well-balanced 2022 vintage, Léoville-Poyferré delivers an expressive, precise and harmonious wine.
Appearance: deep, dense and brilliant purple.
Nose: complex and pure, with blackcurrant, blackberry, dark cherry, graphite, violet, cedar and fine spice nuances, underscored by subtle floral notes.
Palate: broad, structured and beautifully balanced. Fine, tightly knit tannins are supported by continuous saline freshness. The wine’s dense yet elegant core leads to a long, precise and persistent finish.
Deep gravel soils over clay-limestone subsoils typical of Saint-Julien. Blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by a generous Merlot component with touches of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, contributing structure, roundness and aromatic complexity.
Hand-harvested grapes, rigorous sorting and refined parcel vinification with extended, controlled macerations to extract depth and finesse. Aged in French oak barrels with a carefully controlled proportion of new oak to enhance structure without overpowering pure fruit expression.
Ideal with roasted beef, veal fillet, lamb, game birds, elaborated sauced dishes or aged cheeses. Serve at 60–64 °F (16–18 °C). Decant for 2 hours when young to fully unleash aromatic complexity.
Château Léoville-Poyferré 2022 is a profound and age-worthy Saint-Julien. Outstanding with aeration today, it will evolve beautifully over 30–45 years, delivering enhanced complexity and harmony.
