Fiefs de Lagrange 2022 is the second wine of the esteemed Château Lagrange, sourced from the same Saint-Julien terroir as the Grand Vin. In the balanced and warm 2022 vintage, this cuvée offers a lively and approachable expression of the appellation, featuring expressive fruit, smooth tannins and saline freshness. It is appealing early while retaining structure and balance.
Appearance: deep, bright ruby.
Nose: elegant and appealing, with aromas of ripe red fruits (cherry, raspberry) and black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry), complemented by fine spice and subtle floral hints.
Palate: smooth, balanced and harmonious with an elegant core. Fine, well-integrated tannins and a saline freshness typical of Saint-Julien provide balance and a clean, persistent finish.
The vineyards of Fiefs de Lagrange grow on deep gravel soils of Saint-Julien over clay-limestone subsoils, fostering consistent ripeness and expressive fruit. The 2022 blend is typically led by Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, with touches of Petit Verdot and occasionally Cabernet Franc, offering a balanced and approachable profile.
Hand-harvested grapes with careful sorting. Vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel or concrete tanks with controlled macerations to preserve freshness and fruit purity. Aging mainly in tanks to maintain fruit expression, with a short period in French oak barrels to add complexity and roundness.
Pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, roasted lamb, farm chicken, lightly sauced dishes or aged cheeses. Serve at 60–64 °F (16–18 °C). Light decanting (30 min–1 h) is recommended to unlock the full aromatic spectrum.
Fiefs de Lagrange 2022 is a versatile Saint-Julien second wine, approachable young yet structured. Enjoy within 3–8 years for vibrant fruit and balance.
