Located on clay-limestone slopes of the Right Bank, this historic Grand Cru stands out for its depth of fruit, structural precision and outstanding aging potential. The warm yet perfectly controlled 2022 vintage produces a wine of great intensity, balance and elegance.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: deep, dark purple with brilliant highlights.
Nose: intense and complex, revealing ripe black fruits (blackcurrant, blackberry, plum), black cherry, sweet spices, cocoa, graphite and subtle smoky nuances.
Palate: broad and structured with a generous, enveloping core. Firm yet silky tannins are balanced by mineral freshness, providing tension and length. The finish is long, deep and persistent.
Terroir & Blend
The vineyards of Château Grand Mayne are planted on clay-limestone soils and south-facing limestone slopes, ensuring slow and even ripening. The 2022 blend is predominantly Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc, delivering structure, aromatic freshness and aging capacity.
Winemaking & Aging
Hand-harvested grapes with strict selection. Traditional vinification in temperature-controlled vats with long, carefully managed macerations to extract depth and finesse. Aged in French oak barrels with a measured proportion of new oak, enhancing structure while preserving terroir expression.
Food Pairings
Perfect with roasted or grilled red meats, rack of lamb, game, dry-aged beef or refined sauced dishes. Serve at 60–64 °F (16–18 °C). Decant for around 2 hours when young.
