Château de Fargues 2003 is a distinctive Sauternes from a famously hot vintage. The extreme heat of 2003 produced wines of remarkable richness and concentration. Thanks to the precision and restraint of the Lur Saluces family, this vintage delivers opulence and generosity while maintaining balance and harmony.
Appearance: deep golden colour with amber highlights.
Nose: very ripe yellow fruits, candied apricot, roasted peach, mango, rich honey, light caramel, vanilla and sweet spices.
Palate: full-bodied and enveloping. Pronounced sweetness balanced by structure, flavours of candied fruits, honey, marzipan and spices. Long, warm and persistent finish.
Predominantly Sémillon with Sauvignon Blanc. Rapid and concentrated botrytisation due to the hot conditions. Multiple selective harvest passes, slow fermentation and extended aging in French oak barrels to frame the wine’s natural richness.
Foie gras, apricot-based desserts, exotic fruit pastries, tarte Tatin, blue cheeses or sweet-and-savory dishes. Serve at 50–54°F (10–12°C).
Château de Fargues 2003 is a generous and indulgent Sauternes, ideal for immediate enjoyment, yet capable of aging for 10–15 more years.
